Pressure sensor for MTpro 4 (16 bar)

A new version of the pressure sensor for use in conjunction with the MT PRO motor-tester. (Can also be used with other motor testers and oscilloscopes).

This pressure sensor (DD) can be used to measure the pressure of gases and liquids (for example, gasoline, oil, antifreeze, etc.).

The cylinder pressure sensor is one of the main sensors for diagnosing the condition of a gasoline engine.

With its help, you can determine (without disassembling the engine!) Such malfunctions:

• clogged catalytic converter
• downed valve timing (for example, the motor is incorrectly assembled),
• camshaft defects (worn cam),
• reduced compression,
• gas leaks from the cylinder
• and etc.

Attention! Do not use for measuring pressure in acids!

The design of the sensor provides protection against polarity reversal, supply voltage to the signal output, short circuit of the signal output to ground. In addition, the pressure sensor housing is not connected to the negative wire, so if the sensor is screwed into the spark plug hole of the engine and at the same time the negative wire is accidentally connected to the positive battery terminal, then there will be no consequences.

Application of pressure sensor

• Determining the valve timing
• Determination of the percentage of gas losses at the inlet and outlet
• Determination of the dependence of the ignition timing on the revolutions
• Measurement of gas pressure in the engine cylinder both at idle and under load.
• Engine compression measurements. Please note that the readings of the sensor may differ from the readings of a mechanical compression gauge, because, firstly, depending on the adapters and extensions used, the volume of the combustion chamber will change, and secondly, the principle of measurement is different. Theoretically, the readings of the compression gauge should be lower than that of the pressure gauge, all other things being the same.
• Oil pressure measurements.
• Fuel pressure measurements.

To automatically convert the output voltage of the sensor into a real measured pressure value, you must select the appropriate setting for the analog channel DD PS162(3) from the list:
